Mr. P. Kalyanasundaram: ANBU PAALAM

Anbu Paalam’ an NGO, was started by Mr. Kalyanasundaram in 1953 to serve as a bridge to match and link those who need help to those who are willing to help. Mr.Kalyanasundraman, a recipient of ‘Lifetime Service' from the Rotary International, highlighted the social services rendered by ‘Anbu Paalam’. Dr. Paari Vendar, Chancellor, SRM University, Padmashri Nalli Kuppusamy Chettiar and Dr.Pon Vaiko-vice chancellor, graced the occasion.

Mr.Kalayanasundaram worked as a Librarian for 30 years. Every month in his 30-year experience(service), he donated his entire salary to help the needy. He worked as a server in a hotel to meet his needs. He donated even his pension amount of about ten lakh rupees to the needy. He is the first person in the world to spend the entire earnings for a social cause. In recognition to his service, the American government honoured him with the ‘Man of the Millennium’ award. He received a sum of Rs 30 crores as part of this award which he distributed entirely for the needy as usual.

Mr. Kalyanssundaram, had a peculiar voice tone and elected to become a Librarian instead of a Lecturer. Depressed by his voice problem, he was on suicide-path when Mr.Tamilvanan, the well-known motivator of thousands of Tamilians through his magazine, gave him the confidence to carry his life forward.

Moved by his passion to help others, Super Star Rajinikanth adopted him as his father. He still stays as a bachelor and dedicated his entire life for serving the society.

Moreover, in villages where 68% of the population is living, this gap more widened (1:10000 or more). Only 2% of doctors are available in the villages of the country for 68% population. Hence, we decided to work in this direction to bridge the gap of accessibility and affordability of
