Mr. P. Kalyanasundaram: ANBU PAALAM

Anbu Paalam’  an  NGO, was started by Mr. Kalyanasundaram in 1953 to serve as a bridge to match and link those who need help to those who are willing to help. Mr . Kalyanasundraman , a recipient of ‘Lifetime Service' from the Rotary International, highlighted the social services rendered by ‘Anbu Paalam’. Dr. Paari Vendar, Chancellor, SRM University, Padmashri Nalli Kuppusamy Chettiar and Dr . Pon Vaiko-vice chancellor, graced the occasion. Mr . Kalayanasundaram worked as a Librarian for 30 years. Every month in his 30-year experience ( service), he donated his entire salary to help the needy. He worked as a server in a hotel to meet his needs. He donated even his pension amount of about ten lakh rupees to the needy. He is the first person in the world to spend the entire earnings for a social cause. Dr Rishi Tiwari: Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library Development

Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library Development (RSSWLD) came into existence in 2009. This NGO is also working as CSR implementation arm of BIMTECH. RSSWLD aims to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and information at the grass-root level by setting up libraries in the rural areas and Jails. The society’s primary goal is intellectual development of the underprivileged sections of society so that  they can avail competitive employment opportunities and lead a dignified social existence. The society is working in four main verticals: Rehabilitation program for Jail inmates, Community welfare, Social awareness, and charity works, and Upliftment of Library and Library Professionals. RSSWLD have also started knowledge sharing services. Every year inter-disciplinary research workshops are organized for the scholars, especially for library professionals across the country. Dr Rajeev Manhas: DISHA Foundation Welfare Society

 DISHA Foundation Welfare Society is also the discovery of self-realization, when found life is working on the other side, not in ‘me’, so started working for others. The foundation used the similar principles of library & information science for the execution of some its major programmes means work on “right kind of healthcare to right kind of patient at right kind of place and at right time” and like ‘Digital Doctor Visiting Home’. The main motto of the foundation is to make this world healthier and disease-free. The WHO says that there should be one doctor available for population of one thousand (1:1000) and in developing country like India, there is a big gap in this ratio i.e. 1:1676. Moreover, in villages where 68% of the population is living, this gap more widened (1:10000 or more). Only 2% of doctors are available in the villages of the country for 68% population.
